Choosing to mix colours vs. all-over colour extensions

Let’s say you’re considering having hair extensions fitted, but you’re just a little concerned that they might not quite match the colour of your own hair, and as a result, won’t look natural.

If this is you, then you could look to match your hair extensions to your own hair colour whilst choosing to mix different hair extension colours for a more natural look.

Matching your hair extensions to your own hair colour

For this option, the good news is that here at Angel Remy our beautiful hair extensions give you over 40 subtle colours to choose from. So, whatever your hair type, you can discover your perfect match in our range of exclusive styles and shades.

How can you know which one is right for you?

By far the best way to find your perfectly colour matched shade is through a physical consultation with a professional hair extensionist, who will give you expert professional advice to help you choose not only the right colours but the most suitable hair extension application method for you.

What if you don’t have the time for a physical consultation, or you’re purchasing your extensions from an online retailer?

If this is the case you should use a colour swatch ring, which is the most accurate way to colour match hair extensions, as the swatches will be exact matches of the actual extensions available.

Do note that when using a colour swatch ring, be sure to match the colour to the mid lengths and ends of your hair. If your extensions are darker than the ends of your hair, the difference will be noticeable!

If using an online colour matching service?

When using photos of your own hair to order your extensions online, make sure you take photos of your hair up and down and in different lights, and send at least 3 clear photos of your hair without using a flash as that will make your hair look lighter than it actually is.

Mixing multiple different hair extension colours.

The great thing about mixing a few different hair extension colours is that most of us naturally have subtly different shades in our own hair anyway.

By blending in multiple different extension colours, you can create the overall impression of highlights, balayage or that sun-kissed look. Better still, this will also have the benefit of giving your hair the appearance of extra depth.

Use a colour chart to select a colour that matches with your natural hair, then choose another colour that’s one shade darker or lighter than your natural hair colour. You can even blend in bold streaks of highlight to achieve a really distinctive look.
